This is essentially a production version of Paul's Private Stock guitar. Paul himself specified every appointment of this instrument from the wood selection, inlay design, pickups, neck shape, a new proprietary finish and newly designed stoptail bridge. This bridge, still aluminum in nature like most PRS bridges, incorporates brass inserts where the string starts vibrating from to promote a more musical high range. Sporting an eagle tag date of 2/14/13 ( yes that's right, Valentines Day ), this axe features a One Piece Quilted Maple Top finished in beautiful Black Gold. The figuring on this top is extremely nice and the one piece construction is a terrific added bonus to this guitar. The select mahogany neck features a Pattern profile, Honduras rosewood fretboard and the superb looking Brushstroke Bird inlays. The pickups featured on this guitar are a set of PRS Narrow 408 pickups that are wired to two mini coil tap switches. These allow you to easily move between your favorite single coil and humbucking setups on this guitar and because the bridge pickup is reverse wound you always retain hum-cancelling operation. Further, there is zero volume loss between the two settings. Yes, really. None whatsoever. The tonal options this guitar offers is only surpassed by its ingenious design.
